Welcome to Alumni Week 2014!
From February 2 to 8, UVic Alumni Week 2014 offers fun and informative events to celebrate the economic, social and cultural impact of UVic alumni.
UVic Alumni can be found in more than 100 countries and about 31,000 people in the Capital Region hold a UVic degree, diploma or certificate. The CRD board of directors, along with the councils of Victoria, Saanich and Oak Bay have proclaimed it “UVic Alumni Week" in their jurisidictions.
The seventh annual Alumni Week includes public lectures, forums, workshops, art displays, and an alumni and family night of Vikes basketball on Feb. 8.
Award presentations will recognize 12 Distinguished Alumni representing each university faculty, division, and the UVic libraries (recipients mini-bios and photos).
Alumni are encouraged to wear UVic blue, gold and red during Alumni Week and to share their photos on the UVic Alumni Twitter feed (@UVic_Alumni) using the hashtag #UVicAlumniWeek.
Enjoy a presentation and performances from Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos by the incomparable and entertaining Robert Holliston and guests from the Pacific Opera Victoria cast. Refreshments served.

Rick Schultz has spent more than 12 years as a senior accounting manager after graduating from UVic and earning his CGA designation. Initially joining SoMedia in 2009 as VP Finance, Rick is an expert at accounting and business systems, and has previously been involved in the preparation of two NASDAQ IPO’s. Most recently, he worked for Tactical Corporation, a hosting company focused on the marketing/media industry, where he was Director of Finance. Prior to that, he worked for Taleo Corporation, a publicly listed software company based in San Francisco, where he was Director, Systems & Processes, and Pivotal Corporation where he was Manager FP & A.
Tracy Redies, BA ‘84
President & CEO - Coast Capital Savings
Tracy Redies' expertise spans commercial, personal, and private banking to eBusiness, IT and Investment Services. After spending many years abroad and in BC working for HSBC in a variety of roles, including President and CEO of HSBC.com and Executive Vice President, Personal Financial Services & Wealth Management, Tracy joined Coast Capital Savings in 2009 to lead the entrepreneurial-styled credit union in its quest to bring innovation to banking in Canada. She leads the executive team in formulating strategy, establishing and meeting financial goals and objectives, ensuring a differentiated customer experience, and developing a strong company culture for employees.
Duncan Davies, BA ‘72
CEO - Interfor Products
Duncan Davies had been the President of Interfor since 1998 and Chief Executive Office since 2000. Prior to joining the Company in 1998, Mr. Davies was a Vice President of an investment banking firm specializing in forest products transactions and activities, a principal in an independent forest products company and help senior positions in two other large forest products companies. He is the Chair of the B.C. Lumber Trade Council and First Vice-Chair of the Softwood Lumber Board. He is also a director of the Binational Softwood Lumber Council and the Canadian Lumber Trade Alliance.

Vikes Athletics and Recreation staff and volunteers will lead a warm-up and support participants along the four to six kilometre route.
